Odongdo Lighthouse
The Structure and Feature of the Light Tower
Situated on the summit of Odong-do, the sought-after tourism course of Hallyeohaesang National Park, Odong-do lighthouse opened on May 12, 1952. The old light tower was a reinforced concrete 8.4m-high structure in the shape of globe, but it was reconstructed as a white 27m high, octagon-shaped reinforced concrete structure in August, 2002. The inside has spiraling stairway eight stories high while the outside has an elevator for the observatory that commands an unbroken view of Namhae, including Yeosu and Hadong. The exhibition hall on the first floor and the Maritime Transportation Service center on the 2nd floor provide unique and valuable information about the lighthouse and the sea to tourists. Odong-do is an island of gently rolling hills with a model turtle ship, Panokseon (warship), musical fountain and the 2012 World Exhibition Promotion Pavilion (installed for the hosting of the World Exhibition at Yeosu) at the entrance. Coming alongside the southern coastal line, you can enjoy the picturesque sceneries of Sora (shell) Rock, Beongpoong (folding screen) Rock, Jibung (roof) Rock, Kokiri (elephant) Rock and caves. The path leading to Odong-do lighthouse forms a tunnel of thick and tall camellia trees where not even sky can be seen from there. The red flowers begin to bloom in November, boasting of their beauty and reaching their peak in March.

Tourism attractions
Odong-doOdongisland is full of (Paulownia coreana) trees. It has leaves shaped like those of the Odong tree. That is why it became known as Odong-do. Odong-do is home to various eye-catching cliffs such as Kokiri (Elephant) Rock and Geobuk (turtle) Rock. 193 different types of rare trees make the island a rich forest. Tourists also can enjoy the music fountain, Dongbaek (camellia tree) train, Yonggul (cave) and model Turtle ship.
Manseong-ri BeachManseong-ri Beach is unique with its black sand. It is widely known that a black sand bath is an excellent remedy both for neuralgia and women’s diseases.
Hyangiram(Temple)The temple sits looking up at the rising sun, which is the reason it is called Hyangiram (toward the sun). It is a must-see destination thanks to its Buddhist bell, sunrise vantage and splendid natural landscapes.
Dolsan BridgeDolsan Bridge (450m x 11.7m : length x width) is a cable-stayed bridge that connects the downtown of Yeosu and Dolsan-do. It commands an unbroken view of Dadohae (archipelago) and Yeosu port. Its brilliant and gorgeous night view is the envy of other tourist attractions.
Marine ParkLocated on the coast of Jonghwa-dong, Yeosu, the Marine Park is well equipped with an outdoor performance stage, a park, a trail walk and a sea experiencing space on its 700 pyeong site. With palm trees giving the exotic flavors of the southern country in the park, you can feel the romantic mood under the colorful lighting at night.
