    Advantageous Natural Condition
    • Favorable weather condition because ofthe warm currents of East China Sea
    • Waters remain calm even under significant weather condition (typhoon, etc) thanks to the natural breakwaters of mountains and islands surrounding the ports.
    • Tide difference in the morning and in the evening averages 3.8m. Safe berthing and cargo handling is possible as the number of day with wind velocity of 14m/s is only 10.3 days a year.
    Free and Safe Waterway for the Arrival and Departure of Ships
    • Deep natural waterways enabling all year round arrival and departure of 300, 000-DWT ships are secured.
    • Quay Wall depth of 15-18 m which enables the calling of the next generation large container ships is secured.
    • In order to secure the safe voyage of arriving and departing ships, the Traffic Separation System (TSS) is introduced and VYS linked with PORT-MIS is in operation.
    The most Optimal Container Transshipment Port situated in the International Maritime Route and Northeast Asia
    • It is located in the main maritime route connecting Asia, North America, and Europe. It also has excellent port infrastructures. These strengths allow for this port to be a strategic foothold of transshipment cargo in Northeast Asia.
    • It is the best container transshipment port equipped with a container terminal with ON-DOCK SYESTEM and vast hinterlands.
    • It is the starting line connecting the Korean Peninsula, China, Russia and Europe in connection with TSR and TCR via Trans-Korea Railways.
    Vast Hinterlands and Strong Industrial Foundation around the Ports
    • Major ports of Northeast Asia, including Shanghai and Kobe are within a1,200 km radius. The cities with over 1 million population number about 50 and their total population reaches 700 million.
    • In Gwangyang Gulf, the world’s largest POSCO Gwangyang Steel Mill and Yeosu Petrochemical Complex are in operation. The former produces about 17.5 million ton of steel annually and the latter produces and supplies 51 % of domestic petrochemical products. In addition, Yulchonl industrial complex is also in operation.

    • Period : Jan. 1, 2012 to Dec. 31, 2012 (for two years)
    • To Whom : Shipping Companies with yearly throughput of 5, 000 TEU or higher
    • What : The year’s earnings and transshipment cargo (TEU) except increased throughput, transshipment cargo with incentives for building berth change
    • Total support fund :800 million won (400 million won for import/ 400 million won for transshipment)
    • Support fund calculation


    Increased Throughput Incentive
    • Period : Jan. 1, 2012 to Dec. 31, 2012 (for two years)
    • To Whom: Shipping Companies with yearly throughput of 5, 000 TEU or higher
    • What: The year’s earnings and transshipment cargo (TEU) except increased throughput, transshipment cargo with incentives for building berth change
    • Total support fund :Over 2 billion won (1 billion for imported ‘full’ container, 1 billion for transshipment)
    • Support fund calculation : Applicable throughput x unit price – cumulative payment.

    Coastal Shipping liners Incentives
    • Period: Jan. 1, 2012 to Dec. 31, 2012 (for two years)
    • To Whom: Cargo of regular coastal shipping liners of Gwangyang port.
    • What : The year’s maritime transportation container throughput (TEU)
    • Total support fund : KRW 200million
    • Support fund calculation : Applicable throughput x unit price per TEU(KRW 6,000.)

    ※Restrictive condition: If total payment exceeds the amount of the support fund per applicable cargo,
    balance the amount proportionally as per applicable cargo.

    Transshipment Cargo Incentive for building berth change
    • Period : Jan. 1, 2012 to Dec. 31, 2012 (for two years)
    • To Whom : Shipping companies with over 3,000 TEU of transshipment cargo for building berth changes within a month after making the preliminary agreement with YGPA.
    • What :Transshipment container cargo for building berth change under agreement (TEU)
    • Total support fund : (within 1 billion won)
    • Support fund calculation : Applicable throughput x unit price –cumulative payment.
      - How to pay and when to pay: After completing building berth change and having it reported and confirmed by our Port-MTS, cash will be paid to the shipping company.

    Gwangyang port mileage
    • Period : Jan. 1, 2006- : In case container cargo of Gwangyang port reaches 3million TEU
    • To Whom
        - Port mileage: 100TEU of a shipper and 50 TEU of forwarder per import and export cargo.
        - Best customer program: 5,000 TEU of a shipper and 1,000 TEU of forwarder of combined cargo of import and export
    • What
        - Port mileage: The year’s throughput (TEU) increased over the trigger level compared to the record high for the most recent 3 years per import and export cargo.
        - Best customer program: The year’s throughput (TEU) in case average throughput for the most current 3 years is over the trigger level.
    • Support fund calculation
        - Port mileage:Σ(unit price per cargo x applicable quantity per cargo)
